Common Gynaecomastia Myths
1
Gynaecomastia is not a common problem in men.
With around 50% of men experiencing gynaecomastia at some point in their lives, gynaecomastia, or man-boobs, is actually more common than we think.
2
Gynaecomastia is caused by excess fats.
Excess fats may cause the appearance of male breasts. However, the main reason for this increase in breast tissue is an overproduction of oestrogen by the body.
3
Diet and exercise can help reduce man boobs.
As gynaecomastia is caused by a hormonal imbalance, the resulting excess breast tissue cannot be burnt off with exercise and dieting, unlike normal fats.
